Ovahimba people Namibia

The Himba (singular: Omuhimba, dual: Ovahimba) usually are an cultural group of about 20,000 to 50,000 people living in northern Namibia, in the Kunene region(formerly Kaokoland). Recently they built two villages in Kamanjab which have become tourist destinations.

The Ovahima people can be found in North Namibia. A fascinating simple truth is they never bath or wash on their own using water by any means. They have a very fascinating cleaning ritual, which usually takes an hour or two. They start off cleaning themselves earlier in the morning by burning wild herbs and sit in the smoke. They also clean their leather outfits with the smoke. It is just so healthy and also part of the beauty of nature.

When a young girl or a woman have such a thing around the neck as this young girl, it means that they aren't married.
